Online size guidance

It’s a bit of a mystery why all types of clothing have different label sizings depending on which country and which supplier the garment comes from. Lingerie and swimwear are no different. So it really is no wonder that 80% of women wear the wrong bra size.

Gabriella recommends…

A professional fitting…in the lingerie department of a large store or at a small boutique. We recommend this because there is a huge variation between brands, especially on cup size. Cup size also varies according to the style of bra – the shape of the cup of a plunge bra is very different to that of a balcony bra – and the type of material it is made of. It is also quite common for women to have one breast larger than the other. You really need to see what cup size works for you for each style to get an absolutely perfect fit.

Have a look at the very general guidelines below…if you really can’t get a professional fitting for whatever reason, you can use the size guidelines below. But please do note that, as all women are different, general guidelines may be completely inappropriate for your particular shape and size.

How to measure yourself…

All women are different, so we really recommend you have a professional fitting. However, if you do want to measure yourself, here are some tips to help you get close to the right fit. You need to know two things - your back measurement and your cup size.

1. Find your back measurement

  • Measure around yourself just under the bust, keeping the tape quite tight and checking in the mirror that it is level all the way around.

  • If the figure is an even number, add 4 inches. If it is odd, add 5 inches. This gives you your bra size, for example:

38 + 4 = 42 back size

      39 + 5 = 44 back size

2. Find your cup size

  • Measure around the fullest part of the bust, again using the mirror to check the tape is level.

  • The difference between this measurement and the back measurement is your cup size. Simply use the table below to check what it is.

42” back size + 50” fullest bust point measurement = size 42H

Corset sizing and general information

All garments are genuine corsets i.e. steel boned and reinforced with many layers of fabric and interfacing (2-4 depending on style). Initially your corset may seem stiff due to this reinforcement. It will soften with wear and become like a second skin contouring your natural body shape into beautiful hourglass curves.

32 etc = back measurements e.g. bra size 32(B cup) this measurement is flexible in corsets as the corset is laced at the back and can be adjusted tighter or looser to achieve the desired effect.

The Cup size i.e. B cup is specific and should be mentioned when ordering All corsets will reduce your waist by 4". Please measure your normal waist e.g. 28" subtract 4" = 24". This is your ideal corset size.

For a perfect corset fitting, lace corset at the back with LOOPS at the waist. Gradually and slowly pull loops so corset begins to fit around the body.

Tighten loops and form a secure bow. Corsets can be tightened again in 10-15 minutes (this allows your body to adjust to the correct shape and the corset material to become more flexible with body temperature) insuring a even tighter fit.
