Earlier this month, local freebee newspaper, the Metro, ran an article on what lifestyle choices may increase your risk of developing breast cancer. Wearing a bra, particularly a tight bra, is suggested as one of these risks. Bearing in mind that between 70 and 80% of women wear the wrong size bra, is this something we should be concerned about?
The theory is that bra wire squashes the lymph nodes at the side of your breast causing a build-up of toxins that can ultimately lead to breast cancer.
Cancer Research UK says there is no real evidence to support this perspective. However, choosing and wearing the right sized bra is important. A poorly-fitted bra can cause shoulder, neck and back tension and doesn't support your breasts properly. I really recommend a professional fitting.
To avoid all risk, you could buy a wire free bra. The gorgeous Gabriella Sandham wire free bra collection includes bra sizes from 30AA to 48J, so you are sure to find something you'll love.
